As a dentist, you may have heard the term keyword, but in this article I want to show you how you can turn dental keywords into more new patients.
Unfortunately, too many dental websites have abused this approach, and have gotten penalized in google, resulting in a massive drop in rankings. Once you get penalized with BIG G, it is nearly impossible to come back, but it all depends on the severity of your penalty.
What Is A Dental Keyword?
One simple way to think of it is every procedure is a possible keyword phrase you can create great content for, and rank it in the search engines when someone in your area is searching for it.
Think of all the possibilities to attract new patients to your practice, if you can get top rankings for all your procedures!
How many do you have? 10? 15? 20 or more?
Just imagine all the phone calls your practice will get from very interested people in that specific procedure.
Create Great Content
Google has clamped down on websites with poor content. And…unfortunately of the thousands of dental websites I’ve reviewed, the majority of them either have duplicate content, no content, or pages that have maybe 100 words or so, which google refers to that as a “thin” content page.
The strategy to get top rankings for all your services is to build out what I refer to as authority pages.
To give you a guideline, this should be a minimum of 750 words, but try to get 1,000; a minimum of 3 optimized images; and for icing on the cake, shoot a video that discusses the topic of the page.
When you create pages like this (we can do it for you), you will be on your way to owning your market for all your dental services.
Don’t Forget The Long-Tail
I bet you thought I had lost my mind for a second…didn’t you?
Nope…I’m not talking about dogs tails, I’m talking about search phrases people use when they are looking for something very specific.
It’s call long-tail keywords because it is search phrases that are 3-5 or more words long.
For example, female dentist who does veneers in Portland.
Bet you didn’t think of that one did you?
You’d be surprised what people type in when they are looking for a dentist in their area.
The beauty of creating content for these long phrases is people that are searching that specifically are not even warm, they are HOT leads. They are ready to go, because they know what they want, they just want to find the right dentist for the job.
I know this seems daunting, and that is why we’d love to work with you, to create an authority dental website, that ranks for all your services and procedures.
If you have a website that is cookie-cutter (and unfortunately the big marketing companies, no names mentioned) you most likely have duplicate content that google gives no value to, and it’s time to get rid of it, and add unique, quality content that people will respond to by picking up the phone and calling your practice for an appointment.
